What it does

AccountyCat is a focus companion for macOS that reads context instead of blocking lists. It sits in your menu bar, sees your active app and window title (and a screenshot only when needed), then quietly nudges when you drift. Sometimes YouTube is procrastination, sometimes it's the tutorial — AC tells the difference. Runs fully on-device with Qwen via llama.cpp, or with your own OpenRouter key. Open source, auditable, private. Interrupting legitimate work is treated as a bug.

AccountyCat is a macOS productivity app, not finance software. It watches the active app, window title, and only when needed a screenshot to detect distraction and nudge you back on task.

Tell AC what you're working on. It notices what's on your screen and gently keeps you honest — a nudge back the moment you slip into a rabbit hole, never a block on the tutorial, doc, or Slack thread that's part of the job. Try private cloud mode — first tokens on us. Smarter answers than local mode. No card, no account. Codes are limited while launch is on. Reddit might be where you lose an hour — or where you find the exact answer. Same site, opposite intent. Block it and you lose the answer; allow it and you lose the hour.
