Acti
Hi HN, I made Acti, an iOS app that automatically records the places you visit and builds a timeline of your life. It’s totally private, no accounts, no cloud, everything stays local on your device. The motivation: I wanted something like Google Maps Timeline, but without data collection or ads. Acti just runs in the background, asks you to name new places once, and then remembers them forever. You can also add photos, comments, and ratings. What I’m struggling with: because there are no registrations, I don’t really know how to connect with users, gather feedback, or even measure if people…
Acti launched on June 28, 2023 with 76 votes, #1,118 of 4,655 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 3 years on.
What it does
Acti automatically records your visits to places it already knows. The app lets you add photos to visits, leave comments, track activities, rate your experiences. Acti preserves both your important and cherished memories and usual routine in one safe place.
Acti is your private travel tracker and life journal. Automatically log places, add memories, and relive your journey — effortlessly and securely.
This app just works so well. I love tracking my location and adding those to a Google Calendar. It's so helpful to review my week or go back and see where I was on a particular day. I also love the stats the I get in the app as well. Wouldn't want to live without it. This app is great. It helps me keep track of where I was and easier to make expense reports Discover how Acti helps different types of users capture and relive their life moments. Track every destination, restaurant, and landmark you visit. Build a comprehensive travel history with photos and memories attached to each location. Monitor your workout locations, track gym visits, and correlate your physical activities with places.…from getacti.app

Hi everyone - I've been working on this automatic journal for a long time. It takes your photos, makes them look nice, and also journals the places you go just by having your phone in your pocket. Would love your feedback!

Heya HN, I've been working on a reddit-like platform as my primary side project for the last few years. Doing a (very) soft launch today, mainly because I want to use it to encourage discussion of alternatives. How non.io works: 1. Free to browse, paid to interact. 2. Minimum subscription is $2 (though you can choose more). I take $1 to run the servers, everything left gets split evenly between everything you upvote that month. It's a simple model, but I hope it's a better one than the freemium model we've been relying on for the last few years. Fundamentally I feel like any ad-supported…
