What it does
Odyssey builds daily scratch maps of where you've been using your iPhone's location, and lets you check-in to places with additional details. Everything is private and stored on your iPhone. Remember where you've been, without anybody up in your business.

This app is pretty good, but what I’d love is to be able to somehow import my Google timeline in order to get a more complete view since this is only showing me where I’ve visited since downloading the app.Edit: changing my review after the last update. Now you ONLY see where you’ve been on the day you’re looking at. This is awful. It was much better before when you could always see everywhere you’ve been with the current day’s places in dark blue. WHY would you make this change?? Hey Lenny, you can see everywhere you've been by tapping the search button which brings up the new "Explore" section. It's my bad that I didn't communicate this change at all in the app. As for the Google timeline…from apps.apple.com

Acti2023 · getacti.app · ▲76Hi HN, I made Acti, an iOS app that automatically records the places you visit and builds a timeline of your life. It’s totally private, no accounts, no cloud, everything stays local on your device. The motivation: I wanted something like Google Maps Timeline, but without data collection or ads. Acti just runs in the background, asks you to name new places once, and then remembers them forever. You can also add photos, comments, and ratings. What I’m struggling with: because there are no registrations, I don’t really know how to connect with users, gather feedback, or even measure if people…

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned. Over the next 9 months, I sent 15 emails to try to save it : no replies. Feature requests & issues were ignored. The community was left with a "broken" tool let's say. I couldn't just let it die So I built the new version from scratch with the same open-source spirit, but a better…
