AdBlo

You didn't block 4,000 ads. You got 19 hours back.

What it does

AdBlo is a Manifest V3 ad blocker for Chrome. Blocks ads, trackers, malware and miners. Pause on any site with a timer, fix broken sites automatically, and block elements by pointing at them. No acceptable ads, no telemetry, no account. You didn't block 4,600 ads. You got 19 hours of your life back - that's $380 worth of your time. A block count is a statistic. Time is the thing you actually lost. AdBlo shows both — on every page, and for all time.

AdBlo blocks ads, trackers, malware hosts and coin miners. When a site misbehaves, it works out which filter did it in about four rounds — instead of leaving you to switch things off one at a time. No acceptable ads · No telemetry · No account · GPL-3.0 open source A block count is a statistic. Time is the thing you actually lost. AdBlo shows both — on every page, and for all time. Estimated at 15 seconds per blocked item — load time, distraction and the attention an advert takes — valued at whatever your hour is worth. It is an estimate, not a measurement, and not money that appears in your bank account. Your own rate is yours to set in the extension. Every blocker blocks. The difference…from bunklyf.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
