Hi HN! We were trying to have our team adopt AI more and had the idea for "AI Bingo" - hands-on, mini challenges that resulted in something delightful and real. Our team members were obsessed, they were saying it was "weirdly addictive." People made AI-generated ASMR videos, n8n automations, games. Our email marketer built an Electron app using Claude Code. We were stunned - people were learning by doing AND having fun. So, we've spent the last few weeks building Made That, where anyone can do the same challenges and see other people's submissions. A lot of people feel a lot of existential angst about AI as we're all seeing layoffs left and right, but they don't know where to start. Wanted to add a bit of fun (and competitiveness) to something that feels stressful. There's still a lot we can do to make it better, but wanted to open up discussion here and get feedback about the format, challenges, if it feels fun.

I've been experimenting with ways to increase AI adoption for non-technical people. Basically, all companies are pushing for AI because it's all over the news and they feel left behind but most people have no clue where to start. I think 90% of people (ie non coders) are sufficiently well served by using cowork instead of claude code or something similar. If we can get people from sales, customer support, marketing, etc to collaborate with skills and cowork to form a company brain, I think it's gold. I'm using AI (mostly Claude) to create/publish a new video game every day This is day 33, first stab at the tower defense genre. Most of the games (including this one) I build with a single prompt. Rarely, a couple extra prompts are needed for bug fixes or to tweak the physics/UI. I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it.
