AI Models Compare

Compare AI models side by side with one prompt

AI Models Compare launched on June 5, 2025 with 13 votes, #1,425 of 7,999 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

Compare responses from GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, and more side by side. One prompt, instant output. Track cost, speed, and quality for each model to find the best one for your use case.

Dated working notes on how language models are compared: fixing the task, building a small evaluation set, reading benchmark scores, context windows, latency and cost.

A comparison only means something once the task is fixed. Write down the input you will send, the output shape you will accept and the judgement you will apply, then hold all three constant while the model changes. Everything that is easy to vary later - wording, sampling settings, retry behaviour - has to be nailed down before the first request, or the result measures your setup rather than the model. A published score is the output of a pipeline: a dataset, a prompt format, sampling settings, an answer extractor and a scoring rule. Change any one of those and the number moves, often by more than the gap between the systems being ranked. Reading a benchmark well means reconstructing the…from aimodelscompare.com

Hey HN — I'm Parth, I built thisorthis.ai because I was tired of copy-pasting the same prompt across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini tabs to figure out which model actually gave the best answer. What it does: You type one prompt, pick 2–6 models (we support 47 text models and several image models across OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Meta, Amazon, Mistral, Cohere, AI21), and see every response side-by-side. There's also a feature called SmartPick that uses an LLM evaluator to score each response on Clarity, Accuracy, Completeness, and Helpfulness — useful when you're comparing 6 models and…

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

  • I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned. Over the next 9 months, I sent 15 emails to try to save it : no replies. Feature requests & issues were ignored. The community was left with a "broken" tool let's say. I couldn't just let it die So I built the new version from scratch with the same open-source spirit, but a better…
