I've developed a Tamagotchi-like virtual characters drawn in JavaScript. These characters can be manually controlled or interact dynamically with AI assistants, adding a visual identity and fun to AI. Imagine having an AI character that responds to user requests with different states, making interactions playful and engaging. Hi HN community! We want to share AI-town, a deployable starter kit for building and customizing your own version of AI simulation - a virtual town where AI characters live, chat and socialize. Inspired by great work from the Stanford Generative Agent paper (https://arxiv.org/abs/2304.03442). A few features: - Includes a convex.dev backed server-side game engine that handles global state - Multiplayer ready. Deployment ready - 100% Typescript - Easily customizable. You can fork it, change character memories, add new sprites/tiles and you have a custom AI simulation…

Sudo — AI monetization infrastructure for developers 4 months ago, I kept running into the same problem building AI products: inference is expensive, subscriptions are blunt, and ads weren’t designed for generated content. So I started working on Sudo, an infrastructure layer that makes it easier to launch and monetize AI apps. ⸻ Key features (in beta now): • One API to route across top models (no vendor lock-in) • Real-time metering & billing (usage-based, subscriptions, or hybrid) • Optional AI-native ads — contextual, developer-defined, and personalized • Dashboard for tracking usage,…

  • Hi HN! I’m proud to share that we have built a real 3rd party iMessage client for Android. We did it by reverse engineering the iMessage protocol and encryption system. It's available to download today (no waitlist): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beeper.ima and there's a technical writeup here: https://blog.beeper.com/p/how-beeper-mini-works. Unlike every other attempt to build an iMessage app for Android (including our first gen app), Beeper Mini does not use a Mac server relay in the cloud. The app connects directly to Apple…

  • Hey! I made Heynote entirely for my own use case. For many years, I always had an Emacs instance running with the scratch buffer open, even long after I had abandoned Emacs as my programming editor in favor of more recent IDE:s. The simplicity of having just one big scratch buffer appeals to me, but I still want to separate the different things I jot down somehow (without using tabs or similar). Previously, my solution was to insert a bunch of blank lines between the notes, but hitting C-A would still select the entire buffer. That's why I came up with the concept of "blocks", which turned…
