Enter any U.S. address to get a simple 0–100 AirScore based on long-term air pollution, nearby toxic sites, highways, airports, and current air quality.

AirScore ™ gives any U.S. address a simple 0–100 score based on long-term air pollution, nearby toxic sites, highways, airports, and current air quality. Helpful when buying, renting, moving, or simply learning more about where you live. Most air-quality tools tell you what the air is like today. AirScore looks at both current conditions and the longer-term factors around an address, then brings them together in one easy-to-understand score. Six air-quality and location factors brought together for one address. See estimated long-term levels of fine-particle pollution in the surrounding county. Find EPA National Priorities List sites near the address and see how close they are. Identify…from airscore.co

    Air Lab – A portable and open air quality measuring device2025 · networkedartifacts.com · ▲497

Hi HN! I’ve been working on an air quality measuring device called Air Lab for the past three years. It measures CO2, temperature, relative humidity, air pollutants (VOC, NOx), and atmospheric pressure. You can log and analyze the data directly on the device — no smartphone or laptop needed. To better show what the device can do and how it feels like, I spent the past week developing a web-based simulator using Emscripten. It runs the stock firmware with most features available except for networking. Check it out and let me know what you think! The firmware will be open-source and available…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
