AirStats

A lightweight, free system monitor for Mac

Visit airstats.appAlternativestop 10% of September 2026

What it does

AirStats is a free and open-source system monitor for Apple silicon Macs. It shows computer processes in the menu bar, dropdown panel, or desktop widget. AirStats is 8.9 MB installed, about half the size of Stats (17 MB) and 7.5× smaller than iStat Menus (67 MB). Free under the MIT license.

Sixteen metrics in your Mac

Everything the big monitors show, in the place you already look. Per core load, memory pressure, GPU, network, disk, battery, temperature and top processes. A desktop widget for the metrics you want in view all the time, with a colour per metric so a glance is enough. No. AirStats is one process with no helper and no launch agent. Quit it and nothing of it is left running. Only if you turn on the public IP lookup, which ships off. Everything else on screen is read straight off your machine. Yes, MIT. Everything, including the scripts behind the numbers on this site. Not yet. The build is Apple silicon only, which is part of why it is 8.9 MB. It needs macOS 14 or later. One run against Stats…from airstats.app

  • I made OwnTime to balance between competing priorities in my life. The idea is based on two main influences: the concept of "roles" from "The 5 Choices" (2015), and my repeated failure to effectively implement time blocking due to the necessary flexibility in my role. The app allows you to define time budgets, which are not much more than a few mutually exclusive countdown timers. The UX is essentially that of a chess clock for an arbitrary number of players with configurable time. The whole point of the app is to kick you out of the running role/priority when its time is up.
