Alias Bot
Teams in Slack often end up pasting long @mention chains, and someone gets missed (or the wrong person gets pinged). It’s worse for rotating groups like on-call, releases, incident response. We built Alias Bot: each channel can define aliases like `!oncall` / `!reviewers`. When someone uses an alias, the bot replies with the expanded mentions and lists exactly who was notified (so there are no hidden pings). This is intentionally channel-scoped (vs Slack user groups being workspace-wide), so the same alias can mean different things in different channels without admin overhead. Privacy…

What it does
Teams often end up typing long @Alice @Bob @Charlie mentions cluttering the channel. Sometimes, some people get missed or the wrong person gets tagged. This gets worse with rotating or short-lived teams (on-call, releases, incidents). Alias Bot lets you define channel-scoped aliases (e.g. !reviewers, !oncall) so mentions expand to the right people for that channel, without needing to manage org-wide user groups.
Alias Bot lets teams replace repeated @mentions with reusable, channel-specific aliases in Slack - preventing missed tags, wrong pings, and noisy @channel alerts.
Replace long @mention chains with short aliases like !devs to notify multiple people with a single mention User Groups are great for defining org-wide roles. Alias Bot is built for local, everyday coordination. #frontend → !reviewers → Alice, Bob #backend → !reviewers → Carol, Dave The alias adapts to the channel's context instead of forcing one global definition. !launch-team for a release !launch-team for a release !migration for a one-off effort Create → use → delete without consequences. Keep aliases stable while members change !oncall !weekened-support !release-manager Each channel defines what "the team" means !reviewers in #frontend !triage in #support !approvers in #finance Use…from yippa.io

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
