An eBook with hundreds of GNU Awk one-liners

Hi, I recently published my ebook on GNU awk one-liners [1]. It starts from the basics of awk syntax and then discusses one-liner examples. There's a chapter on regular expressions as well. The github repo has the details on how to get the PDF version, all the example files and code snippets used in the book, sample chapters as well the markdown source used to generate the PDF. I made all my ebooks [2] free last month amidst the pandemic fears. These include GNU grep & ripgrep, GNU sed and three books on regular expressions (Python, Ruby, JavaScript). I'd appreciate your feedback and hope…

My book on "GNU grep and ripgrep" is free to download today and tomorrow [1][2] Code snippets, example files and sample chapters are available on GitHub [3] The book uses plenty of examples and regular expressions are also covered from scratch. The book is suitable for beginners as well as serves as a reference. Hope you find it useful, I would be grateful for your feedback and suggestions. I used pandoc+xelatex [4] to generate the pdf. TLDR: I wrote a handbook for the Linux command line. 120 pages in PDF. Updated for 2025. Pay what you want. A few years back I wrote an ebook about the Linux command line. Instead of focusing on a specific shell, paraphrasing manual pages, or providing long repetitive explanations, the idea was to create a modern guide that would help readers to understand the command line in the practical sense, cover the most common things people use the command line for, and do so without wasting the readers' time. The book contains material on terminals, shells (compatible with both Bash and Zsh),…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • https://github.com/OlexG/finclaw ^ repo if anyone wants to contribute. I realized that sometimes I'm pretty good at making random guesses about the future. (I.E, I think OpenAI will beat Anthropic in the short term, etc...) However, I'm bad at converting these guesses into actual market plays I can profit from. As such, I wanted to make a tool that connects to the right APIs and launches a swarm of agent experts to generate related plays based on your prediction. The very first super shitty V0 MPV just has Polymarket/Kalshi bets, but I will be adding a more complex…
