In plain words
An interactive guide that explains how web browsers function. Designed for anyone curious about the technical workings behind their everyday browsing experience, this tool breaks down browser mechanics through interactive demonstrations. It makes complex processes accessible to both technical and non-technical users by showing step-by-step how browsers process, render, and display web content.

The guide is for engineers and curious people who use the web every day, but never built a mental model of how browsers work. I find most guides too technical, too detailed, or too shallow, so I have decided to take a different approach. I built the guide with many tiny interactive examples you can play with to help you go get through the technical details and build an intuition of how browsers work . To keep it short and straight to the point, many critical details are omitted like different versions of the HTTP protocol, SSL, TLS, nuances of the DNS, and many more. I made the guide open source . Feel free to suggest improvements by creating an issue or a pull request. You can type…from howbrowserswork.com

Hey HN! I wanted to share something I built over the last few weeks: isometric.nyc is a massive isometric pixel art map of NYC, built with nano banana and coding agents. I didn't write a single line of code. Of course no-code doesn't mean no-engineering. This project took a lot more manual labor than I'd hoped! I wrote a deep dive on the workflow and some thoughts about the future of AI coding and creativity: http://cannoneyed.com/projects/isometric-nyc
