An open-source SAS interpreter, written by agents
How a small team of agents coordinated to open-source a 50-year-old proprietary technology using only its public documentation, and what it means for the future of statistical programming in clinical trials
An open-source SAS interpreter, written by agents launched on September 9, 2026 with 5 votes, #1,324 of 8,093 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches.
What it does
Coding agents are transforming software engineering. They no longer just autocomplete code: they plan, write, execute, and collaborate over increasingly long horizons. On July 20, Cursor showed what this looks like at scale, with a swarm of agents rebuilding SQLite in Rust from its 835-page manual [ 1 ] . Yet one major programming language has been left behind by this new paradigm: SAS. The proprietary technology has dominated regulated industries for decades and still accounts for 68% of clinical statistical programming [ 2 ] . An agent can write SAS, but without programmatic access to a runtime, it cannot execute, test, or correct the programs it produces. That breaks the feedback loop…from kirha.com

20+ Claude Code agents coordinating on real work (open source)Feb 2026 · github.com · ▲53Single-agent LLMs suck at long-running complex tasks. We’ve open-sourced a multi-agent orchestrator that we’ve been using to handle long-running LLM tasks. We found that single LLM agents tend to stall, loop, or generate non-compiling code, so we built a harness for agents to coordinate over shared context while work is in progress. How it works: 1. Orchestrator agent that manages task decomposition 2. Sub-agents for parallel work 3. Subscriptions to task state and progress 4. Real-time sharing of intermediate discoveries between agents We tested this on a Putnam-level math problem, but the…
Sx – an open-source package manager for AI skills, MCPs, and commandsMay 2026 · github.com · ▲50Claude Code is amazing for individuals but terrible for teams. I spent the last six months building my perfect mix of MCP servers, subagents, commands and skills. Claude Code writes 100% of the code now, but sharing this with my team? Painful. 1. Blog posts and workshops don't work (and don't scale) 2. Committing tools to N repos means N PRs. A tool changes? N more PRs. 3. Same tools, different files or folders for each AI assistant; not everyone uses Claude Code It is like 1999 all over again; FTPing files up to prod and versioning with ".bak" suffixes. So I built sx. It is your team's…

Ktx – Open-source executable context layer for data agentsMay 2026 · github.com · ▲93Hi HN, we’re open-sourcing ktx. It’s an executable context layer that makes agents reliable on your data stack. We built it after going through the experience of building production-grade data agents for dozens of companies. If you’ve also tried building them, or simply tried using Claude Code or Codex on your data warehouse, you’ll know that accuracy is the #1 issue. Agents are great at generating valid SQL, but it’s not always correct SQL. To cite a few examples of “agents gone wrong”: - Stale column + hidden business rule: when preparing a board report, a finance analyst asks Claude Code…

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
