What it does
AreaKit kills the 10-tab routine of finding anything good nearby. Search any place a gym, a hospital, a café, an apartment complex for any location you type in, and get two things in one shot: ranked results from Google Places (ratings, hours, contact info) and an AI-summarized digest of what real people are actually saying about it on Reddit. No more Googling "best X near me," then separately digging through Reddit threads to check if the ratings are even trustworthy. One search, both signals.

For the past few months, I've been working on a website that answers two different questions: - Where in my city have the best travel times to all the things and people I care about? - Given a listing, how far is it from all the things and people I care about? I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
