Auramenta

The journal that reads between the lines

What it does

Auramenta is a private journal for iOS. You write, and an engine on your phone reads your entries back and surfaces recurring phrases and slow patterns over weeks. Tendencies, never verdicts. Eight languages, each with its own engine, and thousands of hand-written phrase rules across them. No LLM, no external AI service. No accounts, no tracking, no server of our own. What you write is encrypted on your phone. The optional iCloud backup is encrypted before it leaves. Free to start.

A private journal that reads what you write and reflects how you've been, in eight languages. On your phone. Open and write.

It reads what you write and reflects how you've been, in eight languages. Private, on your phone. Open and write. Available now on iOS . Android coming Q4 2026 . Read the story . You write to understand yourself, but the sentences pile up and the pattern running through them, week after week, stays out of view. Tapping a mood face doesn't reveal it either: one face is not a pattern, and the real signal was always in the words you wrote, not the emoji you picked. Quiet analysis on your phone that surfaces the patterns behind what you write. A writing experience that adapts to your energy. Use structured prompts for clarity or free-flow text for brain dumps. Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
