Bark Bid
Bark for 15 seconds. Rank your product for free.
What it does
BarkBid is a free voice-powered leaderboard for indie makers. Add your product URL or X handle, bark into your mic for 15 seconds, and your score decides how high your project ranks. Better bark = more visibility—no payments, ads, or API keys. Compete for the top of the global leaderboard, replay other makers’ barks, and discover their products. Then open BarkBid PK, pick a dog, choose 15, 30, or 60 seconds, share one link with a friend, and battle live over two microphones.
You have 15 seconds. Bark like you mean it. Claim your place on the global BarkBid board.
● Mic audio stays on this device until you choose to publish. You get 15 seconds to imitate a dog barking. Not singing, not screaming — barking. We turn that into a score out of 10,000 Bid, and the best bark for each product takes the top spot. A real bark snaps open and dies away fast. Sharp attack, roughly half a second long, clean tail. Keep working the whole 15 seconds. Long silent gaps cost you more than a slightly rough bark. A steady beat scores best — about one bark per second, evenly spaced, like a dog that means it. Commit to it. Measured against your own room noise, so a quiet room is not a disadvantage. Short, separated barks beat one long scream. A held-down yell reads as a…from barkbid.lol

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
