"Be horse." – a diffusion language model on an M2 Air
Try the demo here: https://llm-trajectory.boesch.dev/ This is a write-up of a system I designed at a previous job. It's a natural language interface for industrial robots. The demo runs MuJoCo in the browser via WASM. The demo uses a free-tier LLM API with rate limiting, so it might be slow or unavailable under load, but feel free to check out the code and hook up your own inference service: https://github.com/Encrux/llm_trajectory

What it does
Building a tiny diffusion language model from scratch and training on an M2 MacBook Air
To be, fo hend! First her sense ountier to Jupits, be horse. Wise words! This is the results of 2 hours of training my very own PyTorch Diffusion Language Model on an M2 MacBook Air. You can check out the code over at GitHub: github.com/Encrux/simple_dlm Diffusion Language Models are kind of a hot-topic right now in Machine Learning. The basic idea: corrupt some data with noise, then train a model to reverse that corruption over many small steps. They’re used in a variety of domains, most notably in image synthesis. Image generation algorithms like Stable Diffusions treat this as a continuous problem on a per-pixel basis, because a pixel value of 134 is close to 135. For text, this…from boesch.dev

I built a tiny LLM to demystify how language models workApr 2026 · github.com · ▲915Built a ~9M param LLM from scratch to understand how they actually work. Vanilla transformer, 60K synthetic conversations, ~130 lines of PyTorch. Trains in 5 min on a free Colab T4. The fish thinks the meaning of life is food. Llama 3.2 Interpretability with Sparse Autoencoders2024 · github.com · ▲579I spent a lot of time and money on this rather big side project of mine that attempts to replicate the mechanistic interpretability research on proprietary LLMs that was quite popular this year and produced great research papers by Anthropic [1], OpenAI [2] and Deepmind [3]. I am quite proud of this project and since I consider myself the target audience for HackerNews did I think that maybe some of you would appreciate this open research replication as well. Happy to answer any questions or face any feedback. Cheers [1]…
TensorZero2025 · github.com · ▲307Hi HN! We're Gabriel & Viraj, and we're excited to open source TensorZero. To be a little cheeky, TensorZero is an open-source platform that helps LLM applications graduate from API wrappers into defensible AI products. 1. Integrate our model gateway 2. Send metrics or feedback 3. Unlock compounding improvements in quality, cost, and latency It enables a data & learning flywheel for LLMs by unifying: • Inference: one API for all LLMs, with <1ms P99 overhead • Observability: inference & feedback → your database • Optimization: better prompts, models, inference strategies • Experimentation:…

With social media and now AI, its important to keep the indie web alive. There are many people who write frequently. Blogosphere tries to highlight them by fetching the recent posts from personal blogs across many categories. There are two versions: Minimal (HN-inspired, fast, static): https://text.blogosphere.app/ Non-minimal: https://blogosphere.app/ If you don't find your blog (or your favorite ones), please add them. I will review and approve it.
