In plain words

Bild is an open-source Go library for image processing tasks with built-in support for parallel processing. It provides developers with tools to manipulate and transform images programmatically. The library is designed for Go developers who need efficient image processing capabilities in their applications, with parallel processing being a key feature that enables faster performance on multi-core systems.

    A little side project, a watercolor art generator2022 · brushify.art · ▲224

Hi HN - this is a little side project I threw together. Some implementation details: image processing is all done with headless GIMP (running inside a Docker container) through its built-in Python API. It's _very_ slow (about 50 seconds/image), and currently it processes exactly one image at a time. The website is built with NextJS; payments are processed by Stripe. I've had the best results with pictures of houses, although certain photos of people or nature can look neat, too. (For example: https://brushify.art/s/ruYmQWk, original photo from…

    Rubbrband – A hosted ComfyUI alternative for image generation2024 · ▲61

Hey HN! My friends and I built a new platform for generating images. The app is easy to use for people who find ComfyUI hard to use, or just simply don’t have a GPU to use it on. For those not familiar, ComfyUI is a great tool for using open-source models like Stable Diffusion. It’s primarily great because it’s a node-based tool, which means you can chain together models, upscalers, prompting nodes, etc… which let you create images in the exact aesthetic you want. There’s also a vibrant dev community behind ComfyUI, which means that there are a ton of nodes and customizability. We’re users…

  • Reconstruct any image using primitive shapes, runs in-browser via WASMMar 2026 · github.com · ▲43

I built a browser-based port of fogleman/primitive — a Go CLI tool that approximates images using primitive shapes (triangles, ellipses, beziers, etc.) via a hill-climbing algorithm. The original tool requires building from source and running from the terminal, which isn't exactly accessible. I compiled the core logic to WebAssembly so anyone can drop an image and watch it get reconstructed shape by shape, entirely client-side with no server involved. Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
