Blamo A vibecoded app for vibecoding vibe games

Hey HN, my name is Sam. My buddy Danny and I (and our good friend Claude) have been making this fun app to make and share vibe games. You just describe whatever game pops into your deranged little mind, and BLAMO! there it is, playable on your phone in under 30 seconds. Super Mario Breakout? In plain words

Blamo is an app that generates playable games and digital toys from text descriptions, creating them in under 30 seconds for mobile play. Users describe any game concept they imagine—from arcade variations to text adventures—and the app builds a playable version instantly. The platform also allows creators to incorporate generative AI features within their creations, enabling projects like pet generators or interactive card makers. It's designed for anyone wanting to quickly prototype and share casual games and interactive experiences without traditional game development.

In the maker’s words, at launch

Hey HN, my name is Sam. My buddy Danny and I (and our good friend Claude) have been making this fun app to make and share vibe games. You just describe whatever game pops into your deranged little mind, and BLAMO! there it is, playable on your phone in under 30 seconds. Super Mario Breakout? BLAMO! https://www.blamo.ai/vibes/7350a500-09bb-4ed9-866d-001006f6f... Text Adventure PacMan? BLAMO! https://www.blamo.ai/vibes/781cdd12-bc00-4f1a-8c6c-9726e143f... And not just games, they can be little digital toys, and you can use generative AI _inside_ your creations. So you could make a digital pet generator, or maybe a creepy AI Mother's Day Card maker: https://www.blamo.ai/s/wfVwd Because we're nerds who love recursion we obviously had to go down the rabbit hole of making a vibe game maker inside of our vibe game maker (and then make a vibe game maker inside of _that_ vibe game maker): https://www.blamo.ai/vibes/aad0b712-6459-48f9-a4ae-639b138a1... We think it's a fun way to try out ideas and to be spontaneously creative. For example, if you're like me, you've probably had the thought, "is it possible to turn your phone into a vibrator using haptics?" Blamo! https://www.blamo.ai/vibes/ae38f783-f57a-4439-9a10-2bb4c5f77... Is it possible to get people to throw their phone off a bridge for a high score? Blamo! https://www.blamo.ai/vibes/e01f92cd-b170-4036-a665-da1bab8dd... Every creation is ultimately a single HTML file with css and javascript. As a very OG web guy (I co-invented the single pixel gif) I love that html is the unit of content, like jpegs for instagram, or mp4s for tiktok. Because of that it can do more or less anything you think of that can be done with web stuff. 2D, 3D, TTS, haptics, tilt control, your creativity is the limit. But please use the app, it's ahead of the web version, and frankly, it's way more fun: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/blamo/id6758107100 (The Android version is in the process of being vibed by my openclaw agent, who also enjoys making Blamo games.) So come explore the vibespace with us! Show us what your weird little meat brains come up with, and let us know what you think. Happy to get into the nerdy dirty details with you all here if you have questions. Thanks! -Sam

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

  • Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
