BlastEm – A highly accurate and moderately fast Genesis/MD emulator

BlastEm – A highly accurate and moderately fast Genesis/MD emulator launched on June 5, 2017 with 6 votes, #1,249 of 3,107 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 9 years on.

What it does

While BlastEm's primary focus is the Genesis (known as the Megadrive outside North America), it also supports the Sega CD, 32X, Master System, Game Gear, SG-1000, SC-3000, Sega Pico and Yamaha Copera. Accuracy AND Peformance Top tier accuracy doesn't necessarily require a high-end computer. BlastEm was the first emulator to properly run Titan's impressive Overdrive 2 demo and also excels at synthetic accuracy tests. Despite this, it will happily run on very modest machines. It was originally developed on a netbook-class laptop from 2011 and can still run Genesis/Mega Drive emulation atfull speed on that samefrom retrodev.com
