I was curious about spherical helix, ended up making this visualization2025 · visualrambling.space · ▲865

I was wondering how I can arrange objects along a spherical helix path, and read some articles on it. I ended up learning about parametric equations again, and make this visualization to document what I learned: https://visualrambling.space/moving-objects-in-3d/ feel free to visit and let me know what you think!

    Visualize rotating objects from the 4th, 5th, nth dimensions2023 · ncube.ndavd.com · ▲181

Ever since I remember I had a lot of curiosity regarding hyper dimensional spaces. Picturing higher dimensions, such an impossible yet exciting idea... So years ago I came across a small GIF of a tesseract. Since then it left me wondering how cubes from even higher dimensions would look like... Years passed and I became a software developer, decided to tackle the problem myself and ncube was the result. ncube allows you to visualize rotating hypercubes of arbitrary dimensions. It works by rotating the hyperdimensional vertices and applying a chain of perspective projections to them until the…

    A physically-based GPU ray tracer written in JuliaFeb 2026 · makie.org · ▲198

We ported pbrt-v4 to Julia and built it into a Makie backend. Any Makie plot can now be rendered with physically-based path tracing. Julia compiles user-defined physics directly into GPU kernels, so anyone can extend the ray tracer with new materials and media - a black hole with gravitational lensing is ~200 lines of Julia. Runs on AMD, NVIDIA, and CPU via KernelAbstractions.jl, with Metal coming soon. Demo scenes: github.com/SimonDanisch/RayDemo

Hey HN, Henry here from Cactus. We open-sourced Needle, a 26M parameter function-calling (tool use) model. It runs at 6000 tok/s prefill and 1200 tok/s decode on consumer devices. We were always frustrated by the little effort made towards building agentic models that run on budget phones, so we conducted investigations that led to an observation: agentic experiences are built upon tool calling, and massive models are overkill for it. Tool calling is fundamentally retrieval-and-assembly (match query to tool name, extract argument values, emit JSON), not reasoning. Cross-attention…
