Browser-based robot simulator with Three.js and rapier.js

Browser-based robot simulator with Three.js and rapier.js launched on April 30, 2023 with 13 votes, #1,634 of 4,853 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 3 years on.

In plain words

This browser-based robot simulator uses Three.js for graphics and rapier.js for physics simulation. Users can design and test virtual robots directly in their web browser without installing software. It's aimed at hobbyists and students interested in robotics, engineering, or physics simulations. The simulator runs entirely online, making it accessible for anyone wanting to experiment with robot design and behavior in a 3D environment.

While learning more about embodied AI and robot simulation i’m building a simple simulator, based on Three.js and Rapier physics engine . The robot model is a mobile platform with a 6DOF manipulator and a 2-finger gripper. Each part of the robot is a three.js mesh, kept in sync with the Rapier rigid body. Parts are connected into a kinematic chain with Rapier joints. Arm pose can be set by dragging the gripper with three.js TransformControls. Surprisingly, inverse kinematics works just based on physics simulation, without the need for an additional explicit solver. Initially, I assumed that adding inverse kinematics would be the hardest part of the project, so it’s nice that it comes for…from grgv.xyz

Features include: - Several preset periodic orbits: the classic Figure-8, plus newly discovered 3D solutions from Li and Liao's recent database of 10,000+ orbits (https://arxiv.org/html/2508.08568v1) - Full 3D camera controls (rotate/pan/zoom) with body-following mode - Force and velocity vector visualization - Timeline scrubbing to explore the full orbital period The 3D presets are particularly interesting. Try "O₂(1.2)" or "Piano O₆(0.6)" from the Load Presets menu to see configurations where bodies weave in and out of the orbital plane. Most browser…

Hi HN, Today we’re launching GPT-4 answers on Phind.com, a developer-focused search engine that uses generative AI to browse the web and answer technical questions, complete with code examples and detailed explanations. Unlike vanilla GPT-4, Phind feeds in relevant websites and technical documentation, reducing the model’s hallucination and keeping it up-to-date. To use it, simply enable the “Expert” toggle before doing a search. GPT-4 is making a night-and-day difference in terms of answer quality. For a question like “How can I RLHF a LLaMa model”, Phind in Expert mode delivers a…
