Building a Database of False DMCA Takedowns
This site was set up in response to the HN story about a site getting taken down by another site that had the gall to plagiarize it then issue a DMCA. http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5174121
Building a Database of False DMCA Takedowns launched on February 6, 2013 with 67 votes, #27 of 551 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches.
In plain words
This site documents instances of false or abusive DMCA takedown notices. It was created in response to cases where websites have plagiarized content and then issued DMCA claims against the original creators. The database serves as a resource for developers and content creators to track questionable takedown practices and understand patterns of DMCA abuse. It's designed for anyone concerned about intellectual property disputes and the misuse of copyright enforcement mechanisms.

22 GB of Hacker News in SQLiteDec 2025 · hackerbook.dosaygo.com · ▲730Community, All the HN belong to you. This is an archive of hacker news that fits in your browser. When I made HN Made of Primes I realized I could probably do this offline sqlite/wasm thing with the whole GBs of archive. The whole dataset. So I tried it, and this is it. Have Hacker News on your device. Go to this repo (https://github.com/DOSAYGO-STUDIO/HackerBook): you can download it. Big Query -> ETL -> npx serve docs - that's it. 20 years of HN arguments and beauty, can be yours forever. So they'll never die. Ever. It's the unkillable static archive of HN and it's…

Very opportunistic toy project as I saw the domain was up for grabs: 'at.hn' is a little site where people can have their own subdomains for whatever their HN username is (opt-in only by adding a slug to your bio). It doesn't really do much. Just shows your HN bio rendered as markdown plus meta stuff. I'm thinking of adding an aggregated user listing on the homepage so people can explore profiles. There's a bunch of interesting people on HN but discoverability is a bit longwinded. I'm wondering what other features people want. Otherwise shall likely leave it as-is. I remember hnbadges was a…

Hi HN! Wikiwho is a tool that scans Wikipedia edits and extracts those coming from specific IP ranges associated to known organizations. I've made this as a for-fun side project two years ago. If you want to read more on how it works I've written a short blog article about it here: https://ailef.tech/2020/04/18/discovering-wikipedia-edits-ma... I had already posted it here at the time (previous discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=22907200) but I've now decided to release the code openly, hence the repost. If you're insterested, you…

Talanoa▲340Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…
