This page compares the state income-tax rate, median rent, groceries index, gasoline price and estimated monthly cost recorded in the StateTaxCompare dataset for 2026. The estimate is a baseline for one adult and is not a personalized tax calculation. Using the same formula as the main comparison tool, Washington has the lower estimated monthly cost in this pair.
