Most eldercare tech asks the older person to adopt something new — an app, a tablet, a wearable. CareRing asks for nothing: your parent answers their ordinary phone. Once a day, at a time they picked, they get an unhurried call. Afterward you get a short note: how they sounded, and whether the day's check-ins got done. I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy.
