CI Governor
Detect CI waste and flaky workflows in GitHub Actions
What it does
CI Governor analyzes GitHub Actions workflow history to detect flaky workflows, CI waste, runtime bottlenecks, and cost inefficiencies. Instead of just showing logs and durations, it analyzes patterns across runs such as fail→fail→success on the same commit, repeated reruns, dependency install bottlenecks, and high run-count workflows. Connect your repo, sync CI history, and see insights about reliability and wasted CI minutes in minutes.

I've always wanted a better way to explore the authorship data embedded in a Git commit log. I'm having fun building a CLI tool to do this. It's a bit like the "Contributors" tab on Github that shows you how many commits each contributor has made but much faster and with many more options. If you get a chance to try it out, please let me know. I'd love to hear feedback and suggestions. Thank you!

Hey HN — I kept seeing developers describe the same frustration: the commit-push-wait-read-logs cycle when debugging CI pipelines. So I built PipeStep. PipeStep parses your GitHub Actions YAML, spins up the right Docker container, and gives you a step-through debugger for your run: shell commands. You can: 1. Pause before each step and inspect the container state. 2. Shell into the running container mid-pipeline (press I). 3. Set breakpoints on specific steps (press B). 4. Retry failed steps or skip past others. It deliberately does not try to replicate the full GitHub Actions runtime — no…
