CIF Scanner

Check your payment logs for silent failures, offline & free

Visit site ↗Alternativestop 25% of August 2026

What it does

A free, offline command-line tool that checks transaction logs for a specific silent failure: a transaction recorded as complete while the account balance never actually changed, with nothing flagging it. Runs entirely on your machine, no data leaves your computer. Built as part of CIF (Chronological Input Failure), a framework for chronological integrity in payment systems. Tested honestly on real PaySim data, including two dataset quirks I had to catch and fix before trusting the results.

    I built an inbox-zero expense tracker with CRDTs and SQLite in browser2023 · tender.run · ▲8

Hi everyone! I’ve been working on a small personal finance tool called Tender for the better part of a year. I got tired of doing expenses by hand - going through several accounts to figure out refunds, subscription cancellations, getting paid back via venmo, etc. I’d get to the point where I’d have to go through months of transactions at a time if I got lazy and fell behind. The workflow in Tender is centered around getting to inbox-zero. Transactions leave the inbox when they’re categorized and there’s a basic rules engine for automation. You can also do things like add notes, set…

Hey HN Community, For years I’ve received bug reports with stack traces that were garbled and hard to read. It’s easy enough to use a regular expression to fix them, but I noticed that some folks on my team hadn’t thought to do that. So, I created TidyTrace.com to quickly and easily do it for my team members. For example, take this Java stack trace Exception in thread "main" java.util.InputMismatchException\n\tat java.base/java.util.Scanner.throwFor(Scanner.java:939)\n\tat java.base/java.util.Scanner.next(Scanner.java:1594)\n\tat…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
