What it does

CleanKeys is a simple Mac utility that gives your MacBook keyboard a cleaning mode. It temporarily blocks keyboard input so you can wipe down the keys without waking the Mac, typing accidentally or triggering shortcuts. When you’re done, unlock it with Touch ID, a PIN using the mouse, or a timer.

Temporarily disable your MacBook keyboard while you clean it. CleanKeys prevents accidental key presses and restores normal input when you’re finished.

Lock the keyboard while you clean, then unlock with Touch ID or the on-screen PIN pad. Allow Accessibility on first launch. After that, locking the keyboard takes one click. On first launch, allow CleanKeys in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. This permission lets the app block keyboard events while cleaning mode is active. Click Lock Keyboard or press ⌃⌘L . CleanKeys begins intercepting standard keyboard input. Clean the keyboard without typing into open apps or triggering shortcuts.
