ClearDoc
Hi HN! I recently launched a prototype of *ClearDoc*, an AI-powered tool to extract structured data from unstructured documents like invoices, bills of lading, certificates, etc. It uses *OCR (PaddleOCR)* and *LLMs* to detect and align key fields — even for complex documents with tables, nested fields, or in different languages. It doesn't require templates and can be *self-hosted* (demo runs on my own GPU). Live demo (no sign-up): http://cleardoc.v5ent.com/ Demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u83T6iewfNs Right now: - Fields are auto-aligned visually on…

What it does
Our goal is to bring AI technology into everyday document workflows, freeing up users to focus on higher-value tasks. ClearDoc helps save time, enhances the accuracy and consistency of data, and enables businesses to leverage their data more effectively.

NinjaDoc Ai2025 · ninjadoc.ai · ▲90Hey HN, I'm the founder of Ninjadoc AI. I've spent years working with document processing, and I've always been frustrated by the existing solutions for structured data extraction. The core problem is that most tools force you into one of two bad options: Template-based extractors: You define fixed regions or rules. These are incredibly brittle and break the moment a document layout changes slightly (e.g., a new invoice template from a vendor). ML-based extractors: These require you to gather hundreds (sometimes thousands) of your own labeled documents to train a custom model for each…

I just open sourced my document/website extractor for Vision-LLMs2024 · github.com · ▲37Hi HackerNews, Lately, I have seen an explosion in posts offering paid APIs/services to get unstructured data into LLMs (i.e. langchain extract, ragflow, unstructured, unstract, just to name a few) and I have been largely disappointed by them, either because they fail to implement multimodal support, fail to give good context for "really tricky" PDFs / Word docs / Powerpoints, or are just plain difficult to use. In light of all these posts I figured I'd share my solution that has been working smoothly for me and my clients. I put it up on GitHub for free so you can check it…
OCR Benchmark Focusing on Automation2025 · nanonets.com · ▲58OCR/Document extraction field has seen lot of action recently with releases like Mixtral OCR, Andrew Ng's agentic document processing etc. Also there are several benchmarks for OCR, however all testing for something slightly different which make good comparison of models very hard. To give an example, some models like mixtral-ocr only try to convert a document to markdown format. You have to use another LLM on top of it to get the final result. Some VLM’s directly give structured information like key fields from documents like invoices, but you have to either add business rules on top…

I built the world's most impractical 1000-pixel display and anyone in the world can draw on it. It draws a single pixel at a time and takes 30-60 minutes to complete a single image. Anyone can participate in the project by voting for the next image to be drawn, and submitting images. https://kilopx.com/

Kitten TTS is an open-source series of tiny and expressive text-to-speech models for on-device applications. We are excited to launch a preview of our smallest model, which is less than 25 MB. This model has 15M parameters. This release supports English text-to-speech applications in eight voices: four male and four female. The model is quantized to int8 + fp16, and it uses onnx for runtime. The model is designed to run literally anywhere eg. raspberry pi, low-end smartphones, wearables, browsers etc. No GPU required! We're releasing this to give early users a sense of the latency and voices…

I was wondering how I can arrange objects along a spherical helix path, and read some articles on it. I ended up learning about parametric equations again, and make this visualization to document what I learned: https://visualrambling.space/moving-objects-in-3d/ feel free to visit and let me know what you think!

For HTML Day 2025 [1], I made a web service that displays the current sky at your approximate location as a CSS gradient. Colours are simulated on-demand using atmospheric absorption and scattering coefficients. Updates every minute, without the use of client-side JavaScript.
