What it does

A CLI tool to convert your codebase into a single LLM prompt with source tree, prompt templating, and token counting. - mufeedvh/code2prompt

Code2Prompt is a powerful context engineering tool designed to ingest codebases and format them for Large Language Models. Whether you are manually copying context for ChatGPT, building AI agents via Python, or running a MCP server, Code2Prompt streamlines the context preparation process. cargo install code2prompt To enable optional Wayland support (e.g., for clipboard integration on Wayland-based systems), use the wayland feature flag: cargo install --features wayland code2prompt Homebrew brew install code2prompt SDK with pip 🐍 pip install code2prompt-rs 🚀 Quick Start Once installed, generating a prompt from your codebase is as simple as pointing the tool to your directory. • Runprompt – run .prompt files from the command lineNov 2025 · github.com · ▲134

I built a single-file Python script that lets you run LLM prompts from the command line with templating, structured outputs, and the ability to chain prompts together. When I discovered Google's Dotprompt format (frontmatter + Handlebars templates), I realized it was perfect for something I'd been wanting: treating prompts as first-class programs you can pipe together Unix-style. Google uses Dotprompt in Firebase Genkit and I wanted something simpler - just run a .prompt file directly on the command line. Here's what it looks like: --- model: anthropic/claude-sonnet-4-20250514 output:…

  • Llm2sh – Translate plain-language requests into shell commands2024 · github.com · ▲67

This is my take on the common "use llms to generate shell commands" utility. Emphasis is placed on good CLI UX, simplicity, and flexibility. `llm2sh` supports multiple LLM providers and lets LLMs generate multi-command sequences to handle complex tasks. There is also limited support for commands requiring `sudo` and other basic input. I recommend using Groq llama3-70b for day-to-day use. The ultra-low latency is a game-changer - its near-instant responses helps `llm2sh` integrate seamlessly into day-to-day tasks without breaking you out of the 'zone'. For more advanced tasks, swapping to…

  • Promptr, let GPT operate on your codebase and other useful goodies2023 · github.com · ▲109

Hi HN, I've been working on an experimental tool that helps you use GPT to work on your codebase. I'd love to improve the tool if there's interest. New ideas welcome! I think this could also be useful for experimenting with other types of recursive prompts. It’s a little bit Swiss Army knife and a little bit skynet: https://github.com/ferrislucas/promptr From the README: Promptr is a CLI tool for operating on your codebase using GPT. Promptr dynamically includes one or more files into your GPT prompts, and it can optionally parse and apply the changes that GPT suggests to…

I've been playing with the idea of an LLM prompt that causes the model to generate and return a new prompt. https://github.com/andyk/recursive_llm The idea I'm starting with is to implement recursion using English as the programming language and GPT as the runtime. It’s kind of like traditional recursion in code, but instead of having a function that calls itself with a different set of arguments, there is a prompt that returns itself with specific parts updated to reflect the new arguments. Here is a prompt for infinitely generating Fibonacci numbers: > You are a…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

I realized that the PDF engines of modern desktop browsers (PDFium and PDF.js) support JavaScript with enough I/O primitives to make a basic game like Tetris. It was a bit tricky to find a union of features that work in both engines, but in the end it turns out that showing/hiding annotation "fields" works well to make monochrome pixels, and keyboard input can be achieved by typing in a text input box. All in all it's quite janky but a nice reminder of how general purpose PDF scripting can be. The linked PDF is all ASCII so you can just open it in a text editor, or have a look at…

I originally built this app to organize and reuse interesting React + Tailwind components I came across on Twitter, inspired by the shadcn/ui approach. Later, a friend started contributing their own components, and it got me thinking—this could grow into something bigger, like an NPM for design engineers to share and use components. Would love to hear your thoughts!
