CodeCaptcha - Hide web links behind coding challenges

Hello HN, I made this silly project over the long weekend. It’s pretty basic right now and the captchas are very easy. I plan to add captcha difficulty levels for link creators soon.

In plain words

CodeCaptcha is a tool that requires users to solve coding challenges before accessing web links. It's designed for developers who want to add an extra step before sharing URLs. The current version features basic functionality with easy captcha puzzles, and the creator plans to introduce adjustable difficulty levels so link creators can customize the challenge intensity.

Hide your web link behind a coding challenge.

Sometimes you want to share a link (like job postings, google forms, your project, a secret sub-page etc) to programmers only. This service let's you do that while also preventing abuse and spam. It creates a unique link that you can share instead of your unprotected original link. Visitors are presented with a random coding problem to solve. The solution is almost always 1-3 lines and can be solved in minutes. As of now we only support JavaScript. We may add more languages if there is demand. That is intentional. Soon we will let you choose difficulty level when creating afrom codecaptcha.io

I built Nocaptcha after getting frustrated with traditional CAPTCHAs both as a user and developer. WebAuthn passkeys offered a promising alternative that's both more secure and user-friendly. What makes Nocaptcha different: - Uses WebAuthn standard instead of puzzle-solving - No need for users to remember passwords or solve puzzles - Open source Current limitation: Working with W3C WebAuthn Community Group on true passkey disposal for this use case. Looking for feedback particularly on: 1. Integration experience 2. User experience compared to traditional CAPTCHAs

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • History: Last year I had to replace the tire on my bike, and I was surprised how difficult it was to find a suitable new tire. There were a lot of numbers written on the casing, so I googled what they meant. In the end I was successful, but I didn't want to do the same work again for the next bike after I've forgotten the details. So I wrote this website. Technically, the web page is kept very simple, no frameworks, no templates, no website builder. It uses HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, and it privides a responsive layout for mobile usage. I'm happy to receive feedback. If you have tried the…
