CodeScan

Scan and secure your code to prevent future cyber threats.

CodeScan launched on April 13, 2025 with 16 votes, #1,489 of 7,818 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

CodeScan: Advanced Code Analysis Platform

Measure complexity, duplication, dead code, dependencies, and class design across your entire codebase. Run it once with the open-source CLI or track structural decay every week with the GitHub App.

AI agents write code faster than anyone can review it. Polyscan measures the structure of your whole codebase — dead code, duplication, complexity, dependencies, class design — and tells you what to fix first. Five structural readings, one 0-100 score with an A-F grade, and an HTML report you can share. Unreachable code you can safely delete, found by walking the control flow graph rather than guessing. Copy-pasted and structurally similar code worth merging — Type 1-4 clone detection via tree edit distance. Functions that are hard to read and hard to test, ranked by cyclomatic complexity so you know where to start. Circular imports and unstable module dependencies, plus the module…from codescan.dev

Did you know that VSCode extensions run with full access to your system—including file system, network, and credentials? Worse, dozens of malicious extensions have already made it into the marketplace, silently compromising devices. I am a security researcher and student developer who ran into this problem myself. To help tackle this, I built a 100% free tool (no login required) that scans VSCode (and Cursor/Windsurf) extensions for: - Hidden malware and obfuscated code - Dangerous permissions and API misuse - Vulnerable dependencies and suspicious network connections Users have already…

We’re building Appcan, a security testing platform. While running scans ourselves, we kept hitting the same problem: the reports were accurate, but hard to act on. Most scan outputs are long lists of findings with severity labels, but very little context. You still have to decide what actually matters, what to fix first, and what can wait. So we added an AI interpretation layer on top of existing scan results. Instead of just showing raw findings, the AI reads the report as a whole and produces a short, structured summary explaining what the real risks are, why they matter, and where to…

Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

  • Hi everyone, I built PyXL — a hardware processor that executes a custom assembly generated from Python programs, without using a traditional interpreter or virtual machine. It compiles Python -> CPython Bytecode -> Instruction set designed for direct hardware execution. I’m sharing an early benchmark: a GPIO test where PyXL achieves a 480ns round-trip toggle — compared to 14-25 micro seconds on a MicroPython Pyboard - even though PyXL runs at a lower clock (100MHz vs. 168MHz). The design is stack-based, fully pipelined, and preserves Python's dynamic typing without static type restrictions.…
