Coop Review Tool
I'm the head of product at ROOST, a nonprofit focused on democratizing online safety technology through open source software, and one of the people behind Osprey, an open-source rules engine for fighting abuse at scale. We just released v1.0, which is what's running in production at Discord and Bluesky (and soon Matrix!), processing hundreds of millions of events daily. Most platforms face a bad choice: build custom abuse-fighting infrastructure from scratch, or use closed vendor solutions. We built Osprey to give smaller platforms and communities access to the same quality of tooling that…

What it does
Every platform with user content needs a way to review it, act on it, and enforce community guidelines or terms of use consistently. Coop is a free, self-hosted console that handles the whole workflow: queues, assignments, appeals, and enforcement, across any harm area your platform faces, from spam and fraud to CSAM. Apache 2.0 licensed and built by a nonprofit, so there's no vendor contract, no pricing tier, and your data never leaves your infrastructure.
Robust Open Online Safety Tools or ROOST is a new non-profit entity designed to address the urgent need for accessible, high-quality safety tools in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
An open source review and moderation platform for anything that requires decisions at scale. Coop is the first free, end-to-end CSAM detection, review, and NCMEC reporting workflow. Review content across any policy category: harassment, spam, fraud, TVEC, or child safety. Coop's child safety workflow goes further with hash matching via HMA, NCMEC CyberTipline reporting, and integrations with Google Content Safety API and OpenAI Moderation API. Content flagged by automated detection or user reports flows into review queues. Role-based access controls and routing rules make sure the right people see the right things. Build rules for automation using your signals or route content to manual…from roost.tools

I built a real-time OSINT dashboard pulling 15 live global feedsMar 2026 · github.com · ▲312Sup HN, So I got tired of bouncing between Flightradar, MarineTraffic, and Twitter every time something kicked off globally, so I wrote a dashboard to aggregate it all locally. It’s called Shadowbroker. I’ll admit I leaned way too hard into the "movie hacker" aesthetic for the UI, but the actual pipeline underneath is real. It pulls commercial/military ADS-B, the AIS WebSocket stream (about 25,000+ ships), N2YO satellite telemetry, and GDELT conflict data into a single MapLibre instance. Getting this to run without melting my browser was the hardest part. I'm running this on a laptop…
Keep – GitHub Actions for your monitoring tools2023 · github.com · ▲181Hi Hacker News! Shahar and Tal from Keep here. A few months ago, we introduced here at HN (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34806482) Keep as an “open source alerting CLI” and got some interesting feedback - mainly around UI, automation, and supporting more tools. We were VERY early back then, and we understood that although the current DX around creating alerts is not great, it's not that critical and developers don’t need another tool just for that. But we did find something else. While talking to developers and devops, we found that a lot of companies use many tools…

I'm super excited to announce that we're finally live. Here's a blog post I wrote on how we got there and a little story behind the startup: http://spencerfry.com/introducing-uncover

Talanoa▲346Hi HN, I’m a fullstack developer, and honestly, I’ve lost count of how many side projects I’ve worked on over the years. But one idea kept coming back to me: a different kind of email client. It first came to me in 2014: “What if we could handle emails more like conversations?” Every year, I’d revisit this concept in my “Build Notes.” Ten years later, no one had built exactly what I had in mind — so I finally decided to do it myself. That’s how Talanoa was born. I wanted something focused on people, not timelines. I was tired of marking messages as unread just to remember to reply later, or…

Homebrew 6.0.0▲1,481Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
