What it does

The Cosmic Watch is a high quality simulation app that renders the earth and the sky in real time. It shows the positions of the sun, moon, planets and stars from the earth’s point of view, telling the time according to the motion of the cosmos.

I have used this app for six to seven years and two different iphone generations. It is a clock, orrery, teacher, astro app of the highest caliber. It is light weight and does not take a lot of memory, the A-R mode is handy to help confirm objects in the sky. There is no explanation of what is displayed, just factual data. Other apps can explain what one is looking at but that comes at a high price but if you have a basic knowledge of the sky than this is just awesome to behold. The ability to look in from space at your location and then switch the view so you are looking out from your location is just not found on other apps.
