CoughPro
Detects, monitors and helps manage your cough
CoughPro launched on December 7, 2023 with 12 votes, #978 of 3,780 launches that month and more than 50% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 2 years on.
What it does
CoughPro is powered by the world's leading acoustic AI model, validated in +45 clinical trials. It runs on any phone or wearable and detects coughs in real time. It identifies patterns and helps people better understand their cough.
Cough tracking and insights that help people who struggle with cough
CoughPro uses machine learning algorithms to detect when a sound is a cough. Audio signals from smartphones are transformed into a visual representation that shows the frequency of the signal as it changes over time. To learn different types of cough sounds, we collect training data from multiple conditions that reflect users’ lives – in quiet locations as well as noisy, challenging locations like construction sites or covid care centers. I'm a doctor and made a responsive breathing app for stress and anxiety2023 · lungy.app · ▲666Hey HN! Some more info: I’m an NHS doctor and the founder of Pi-A (https://www.pi-a.io) which developed Lungy (https://www.lungy.app). Lungy is an app (iOS only for now) that responds to breathing in real-time and was designed to make breathing exercises more engaging and beneficial to do. It hopefully has many aspects of interest to the HN community – real-time fluid, cloth and soft body sims running on the phone’s GPU. My background is as a junior surgical trainee and I started building Lungy in 2020 during the first COVID lockdown in London. During COVID, there were…

Lungy is an iOS app that responds to breathing in real-time and was designed to make breathing exercises more engaging and beneficial to do. It’s been two years since Lungy launched (here’s the original ShowHN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34534615) and it's had a huge update and complete redesign. We rebuilt the whole app, and added a real-time 3D soft body solver which gives some really cool interactions like blobs /…

Hi HN! I’m proud to share that we have built a real 3rd party iMessage client for Android. We did it by reverse engineering the iMessage protocol and encryption system. It's available to download today (no waitlist): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beeper.ima and there's a technical writeup here: https://blog.beeper.com/p/how-beeper-mini-works. Unlike every other attempt to build an iMessage app for Android (including our first gen app), Beeper Mini does not use a Mac server relay in the cloud. The app connects directly to Apple…

Hey! I made Heynote entirely for my own use case. For many years, I always had an Emacs instance running with the scratch buffer open, even long after I had abandoned Emacs as my programming editor in favor of more recent IDE:s. The simplicity of having just one big scratch buffer appeals to me, but I still want to separate the different things I jot down somehow (without using tabs or similar). Previously, my solution was to insert a bunch of blank lines between the notes, but hitting C-A would still select the entire buffer. That's why I came up with the concept of "blocks", which turned…
