Davia
Hi HN, We’re Afnan, Theo and Ruben. We’re all ML engineers or data scientists, and we kept running into the same thing: we’d write useful Python functions, either for ourselves or internal tools, and then hit a wall when we wanted to share them as actual apps. We tried Streamlit and Gradio. They’re great to get something up quickly. But as soon as we needed more flexibility or something more polished, there wasn’t really a path forward. Rebuilding the frontend properly in React isn’t where we bring the most value. So we started building Davia. You keep your code in Python, decorate the…
Davia launched on June 10, 2025 with 56 votes, #529 of 7,999 launches that month and more than 90% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.
In plain words
Davia is a web app framework for Python developers that automatically generates user interfaces from decorated Python functions. Users write Python code, add decorators to expose functions, and describe their desired interface in a prompt; Davia then builds and deploys a web app with a FastAPI backend. It targets ML engineers and data scientists who want to share Python tools as polished applications without rebuilding frontends in React or other frameworks.

Describe what you need, like “an AI app that lets you review Google Sheet rows, fact-check with chatGPT web search, and choose what to share in Slack.” Davia builds it, connected to your data and ready to use or deploy in one click.

Context.devJul 2026 · context.dev · ▲814Hello, My name is Yahia, I've been working on scraping products for a long time and maintain a couple of free sites in my spare time (E.g. knifegeek.io) What prompted this is i've rebuilt scraping infra at every company I've started and finally just made it a product. Pass a URL, get clean markdown, html, images, sitemap or pass a domain, get logos, colors, socials, industry data. Goal is to offer a better service than VC funded competitors at a fraction of the cost. Stealth is included and automatic at no additional cost (normally an upcharge by alternatives). Would love your honest thoughts.

Hi HN! I'm Ruben, the founder of Davia (https://davia.ai/). Davia is a platform to build, edit and share applications, where builders get rewarded based on usage while users can discover and reuse any app's code to fit their own needs. The problem we're trying to solve: Today's AI coding platforms charge you upfront for creation - it's like paying per block modification in no-code solutions. This works for commercial projects because you're aiming to generate revenue that exceeds your creation costs, but doesn't fit the reality of side projects and community apps that builders…
Frigade2023 · frigade.com · ▲388Hey HN! Christian here, cofounder and CTO of Frigade (https://www.frigade.com). Our tool helps product and engineering teams quickly build in-app experiences like getting started checklists, product tours, account upsells, and nps surveys. Basically all the little things that can help boost your product's activation and retention rates, but that you don't really want to spend the time building from scratch. We built React UI components such as , , and and combined them with a web app that you can use to control user targeting, content management, sequencing, and more. These…
Locofy.ai2022 · locofy.ai · ▲720Hey there, I am Honey - Co-founder at Locofy. We, along with other makers, have been building Locofy.ai to help massively accelerate the builders - the designers, developers, product managers & founders, and we're excited to share it today with the HN Community. Locofy.ai simply converts designs into production-ready frontend code for web and mobile apps. It adapts to your preferred design tools, tech stack, and workflows with ease and lets you launch upto 4x faster, while letting designers design the way they want and giving high-quality responsive code that developers love. With this…
Davia – Open source visual, editable wiki from your codebaseNov 2025 · github.com · ▲47Hi HN, We’re Ruben, Afnan, and Theo, and we’re building Davia to solve a common problem: documenting and explaining large codebases is complex. It takes too long to generate even a first draft of a wiki, visuals are essential to understand the structure, internal docs should be editable in the IDE, and most solutions aren’t open. Davia is an open source tool. You enter the path of your repo, and it generates a visual wiki you can explore and edit. Diagrams are created automatically, and you can update everything either in your IDE or in a Notion-like editor. The project is still early, and…
- AVA Visual IDE for React2022 · dev.aspect.app · ▲479
I made this because building UIs in a lexical medium like code is super annoying. I have to pre-render what I’m making in my head, and then jump between the browser and IDE to test. I was inspired by the developer console in chrome and safari since I end up editing css there because it’s ironically more convenient. Hope it’s useful!

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned. Over the next 9 months, I sent 15 emails to try to save it : no replies. Feature requests & issues were ignored. The community was left with a "broken" tool let's say. I couldn't just let it die So I built the new version from scratch with the same open-source spirit, but a better…
