Desktop Commander MCP

MCP+Claude= Local Automation with AI for a fixed flat price

Desktop Commander MCP launched on April 8, 2025 with 16 votes, #1,489 of 7,818 launches that month and more than 75% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

Search, update, manage files and run terminal commands with AI. Desktop Commander turns Claude into a real computer assistant — generate diagrams, explore full codebases, automate tasks like video encoding. Open-source, powerful, and local.

Desktop Commander reads your files, runs commands, and automates workflows — all in natural language.

Most AI assistants talk. Desktop Commander opens folders, runs commands, writes files, reports back. Describe the outcome in plain English. Your agent figures out the steps, works across your apps, and brings back what you asked for. Paste any prompt into Desktop Commander and watch it execute. On your computer, with your files, and your choice of model. Opus 4.7, GPT-5.4, Gemini 3.0, or any model that fits your use case. Every action your agent takes on your computer, in plain view. One simple plan. We handle the AI models — you pick how much you need. The full experience. Any model, your files, and every action in plain view. Built for people who want an agent running alongside them, not…from desktopcommander.app

  • Hi everyone, I built PyXL — a hardware processor that executes a custom assembly generated from Python programs, without using a traditional interpreter or virtual machine. It compiles Python -> CPython Bytecode -> Instruction set designed for direct hardware execution. I’m sharing an early benchmark: a GPIO test where PyXL achieves a 480ns round-trip toggle — compared to 14-25 micro seconds on a MicroPython Pyboard - even though PyXL runs at a lower clock (100MHz vs. 168MHz). The design is stack-based, fully pipelined, and preserves Python's dynamic typing without static type restrictions.…
