Dev Checkpoint
Save your coding context in 1 keystroke. Restore in 3 sec.
What it does
Every interruption costs 23 minutes of deep focus (UC Irvine). Your editor saves files — not what you were thinking. Dev Checkpoint captures your mental context in 1 keystroke: git branch, active file, cursor position, open TODOs, terminal history. Restores with a human-readable narrative in 3 seconds. Zero cloud. Zero AI. Zero config. Everything stays on your machine. Free, open source MIT. Works immediately after install.

- IRI rebuilt the only parts of my IDE I use, in Rust, over a weekendJun 2026 · github.com · ▲50
I don't know Rust. Friday after work I realised that 90% of my IDE time now is just the commit/diff view — and even good IDEs feel heavy for that. So over the weekend I built a dedicated native tool for just that. Kyde is a macOS git commit + diff editor with one goal: be fast, do Git well. I'm curious whether anyone else mostly opens their IDE for git operations these days. It's open source, and there's a signed app in Releases.
