Digital Utility Kit

30 file tools that never upload your files

What it does

Compress and convert images, merge and split PDFs, format JSON, generate QR codes and hashes — all running entirely in your browser. Your files never reach a server. There is no upload step, no account, and no queue. Open the tool, drop the file, get the result. The tools are also honest about their limits: the image compressor returns your original file whenever compression would make it bigger, instead of handing back a larger file labelled "compressed". Free, no sign-up, works on mobile.

Thirty free tools for images, PDFs, text, developers and security — compressing, converting and generating entirely in your browser, with no upload.

Convert, resize, compress, generate and secure. All the essential digital tools in one place — fast, free and private. Everything runs instantly, with local processing whenever possible. Reduce JPG, PNG and WebP file size directly in your browser. Convert HEIC and HEIF photos to JPG locally in your browser. Count words, characters, sentences and paragraphs instantly. Convert text to uppercase, lowercase, title case and sentence case. Convert Unix timestamps to dates and dates back to epoch time. Decode JWT header and payload instantly without uploading thefrom digitalutilitykit.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

  • I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
