Dolthub
The only version-controlled database company. Git for Data.
What it does
Dolt is a version-controlled SQL database for AI agents and developers. Think Git and MySQL had a baby: every database change can be committed, branched, diffed, merged, pushed, and pulled. Agents can work on isolated branches, review database changes before they reach production, and roll back mistakes with a complete history of both data and schema. Dolt is open source and MySQL-compatible, with related projects for SQLite (DoltLite), PostgreSQL (Doltgres), and MongoDB workflows (DumboDB).
DoltHub is where people collaboratively build, manage, and distribute Dolt databases. Dolt is the world's first and only version controlled database, think Git and MySQL had a baby.

Why are SQL workbenches stuck in 2002? I work for the company behind Dolt, the first fully versioned SQL database. As a database company, we have often felt the pain of the lack of modern, web-native or browser-based SQL workbench products. We built a cool database UI for our other web products (DoltHub and Hosted Dolt) and we wanted the world to have it. The Dolt Workbench not only works with Dolt, which will unlock version control features, but it also works with any MySQL-compatible database, including MySQL and MariaDB. As far as we can tell, the Dolt Workbench is the only free, open…

You asked for it, we built it: the world's first version-controlled SQL database, Dolt, now has a Postgres-compatible version, Doltgres. We announced the limited alpha here on Hacker News 18 months ago, and today we're excited to announce the Beta release. Doltgres is free and open source, and you can download it from our GitHub repository here: https://github.com/dolthub/doltgresql/ More details on the Beta release in our announcement blog post: https://www.dolthub.com/blog/2025-04-16-doltgres-goes-beta/ If you've been waiting for the…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…
