Echologue – the private AI voice journal I built for myself

I have tried journaling many times but nothing stuck. So I decided to make my own app for myself with these features: * Voice first * Private first * AI chat * Automatic tagging, meaning extraction, and semantic retrieval using embeddings stored locally * Export to LLM the AI angle is especially interesting for me. It allows me to ask questions like: * "remind me highlights and crazy nights in the last 3 months" * "How was I feeling during my trip in Spain and how big of a problem was my breakup" * "How would you judge my overall interactions with Marc after I told him about my problems" the…

In plain words

Echologue is a voice-first journaling app designed for private, conversational reflection. Users record audio entries that are processed locally with AI to automatically tag themes, extract meaning, and enable semantic search through embeddings. The app lets users query their journal with natural questions like "How was I feeling during my trip?" or "What was my overall mood last month?" All data remains on-device, with AI analysis performed through zero-data-retention endpoints, ensuring complete privacy and anonymity.

From the sources

Echologue is a private voice journal you can ask later. Capture voice notes, moods, memories, and fleeting thoughts, then ask grounded questions across your own history.

Echologue turns quick voice notes and private journal entries into a memory you can actually come back to. Capture moments, moods, and fleeting realizations — then ask grounded questions across your own history. Not a generic chatbot. Your own memory, made askable. Record the messy version: what happened, who was there, how it felt, and the small thought you do not want to lose. Echologue turns it into structured memory you can ask about later. "Last day in Barcelona. Walked through the Gothic Quarter with Leo, had paella near Barceloneta, and felt lighter than I have in weeks." A grounded answer from your own entries — not generic chatbot memory. Most journals are great for capture and…from echologue.com

Hi HN! I just launched Rocket Journal, a voice-first journaling app designed to make reflection as easy as talking. Key ideas: Rant mode — vent freely, no judgment Reflect mode — guided prompts to help dig deeper AI insights — mood tracking, patterns, helpful takeaways Stickers & scrapbook — journaling feels lighter and fun Privacy-first — your data isn’t used to train models I built this because journaling apps often feel like “work.” I wanted something that felt like having a safe, responsive companion for those late-night thoughts or walks outside. I’d love feedback from the HN community:…

Hi everyone, I’m a solo developer and I’ve been working on a small tool called Echosnap AI. I built it because I often get ideas while I’m walking or doing something else, and speaking always felt like the fastest way to capture them. Echosnap lets you record a note and instantly get a clean transcript. It can also translate your recordings and help you stay organized with tags and folders. I tried to keep the app as simple and minimal as possible. This is my first time sharing something on HN, so any feedback or suggestions would mean a lot. Thanks for taking a moment to check it out.

This is the first version of an app idea I had last month as a way to dip my toes into some of the AI APIs. The idea is you can record yourself answering and rehearsing what you'll say to common interview questions, and receive AI feedback on how you did and how you can improve. In the future I may expand into other subject areas, but wanted to scope it to the behavioral interview format for the time being. Super open to feedback and suggestions!

I might be the only SRE on Earth with his own bowling center. It's a more in-depth gig than you'd think. My family and I bought an abandoned 8-lane bowling center in the rural mid-west. In our small town there weren't many recreation options for families. You've heard of a food desert? This is an R&R desert. It had been abandoned for a good reason. The roof leaks, the electrical system was constantly surging, and my 70-year-old bowling equipment (still) doesn't work perfectly. The system that keeps your score is particularly interesting to me. It's the thing you watch during your game, but…

Over the past few months, our team has been building more and more slidedecks using web frontend technologies with coding harnesses like Claude Code, but a common complaint is to make even small edits we need to edit the code either manually or via the harness. To avoid this loop, I ended up creating Bento, a single HTML file with everything you need in a slide tool including animations and shared editing. There's no install or cloud login, everything works offline. The default deck is around 560 KB and it doesn't need to fetch anything once you got it. Open it in a browser and then you can…

  • A few days ago I found myself trying out GLM 5.2 and was really positively impressed. The capabilities and security I was getting from this LLM are similar to those I've gotten from models like Claude or GPT, and this really surprised me. But then I thought, "I wonder how it would work on a normal computer like mine," and above all, "I wonder if it would work without going into OOM on a computer like mine." So I started working with the help of agents to test this possibility. I started converting the model to int4, understanding MTP usage, and if possible implementing DSA for long context.…

Hello! For the last 2 months, I've been building OpenSEO. It's a user friendly UI wrapping the DataForSEO API which has high quality SEO data for keywords, backlinks, AI SEO and competitor research. Instead of paying $100+ per month, you buy DataForSEO credits and pay only for usage. The coolest thing about the project so far has been hearing about what people are building on top of it. People are using coding agents to quickly integrate with Google Search Console, Google Ads and building their own AI SEO and reporting features. Many were already building their own custom solutions around…
