Eight - A social magic 8 ball

Hi Everyone, (I know this is a repost, but I had some dns issues with my last submission) I created this as a small project last weekend (started on _whyday) just to flex some ruby muscle, learn some stuff about sinatra, oauth and the twitter api and also get into the spirit of the day. So what it does is use your twitter followers and random people on twitter to answer your questions (bearing in mind that the syntax has to result in a yes or no question). So In effect they may or may-not know anything about you, so you just vote yes or no (kinda like facemash or hot-or-not but for…

What it does

In the maker’s words, at launch

Hi Everyone, (I know this is a repost, but I had some dns issues with my last submission) I created this as a small project last weekend (started on _whyday) just to flex some ruby muscle, learn some stuff about sinatra, oauth and the twitter api and also get into the spirit of the day. So what it does is use your twitter followers and random people on twitter to answer your questions (bearing in mind that the syntax has to result in a yes or no question). So In effect they may or may-not know anything about you, so you just vote yes or no (kinda like facemash or hot-or-not but for questions). The user is then presented with a general yes or no, and then they can choose to see a more detailed tally. I hope some of you peeps have some fun with it :) and as always any feedback would be appreciated. URL: eightapp.safetyscissors.co Alternative Link: eightapp.heroku.com

    My inherently "viral" experiment: 3Pics.me2011 · ▲15

As you can tell, it's heavily influenced by Mark Bao's threewords.me. The concept is simple, upload three pics and let your friends vote on them. In fact, I think I may have ripped the concept off a post about threewords.me. Anyways... Basically, I just wanted to build something stripped down to a core functionality and a little different from my usual projects. I've spent a lot of time polishing the flow and trying to make sharing an inherent part of the app. It's built on Ruby/Padrino/Sinatra, Postgres and uses S3 for image hosting. This is actually my first Ruby project coming from a pure…

Quick "Unfollow Everybody" script for Twitter2014 · ▲11

So I just did my semi-annual "log in to Twitter to see if it's any good yet", and found that in my absence I had followed a few thousand new spam accounts. Sweet. That explains why they emailed me and forced me to change my password last year. Being Awesome, Twitter doesn't have any way to simply toss out all your followers and start from scratch. And none of the spammy apps claiming to do so actually will (even seemingly after charging you money to try). So instead, I just pulled open the Dev console and did this:…

Hello HN! I just launched a new social iPhone game called "unun". It's like drawsomething but in a puzzle way. You can also animate your puzzle and message your friend during the game. Would definitely enjoy any feedback so I can make it better! Feel free to check out the demo video and download it from appstore.
