EmailToFuture
I used to send 1 email to myself on January 1st every year and schedule it for the 1/1 next year using FutureMe. This year when I wanted to do this, FutureMe started charging $9/year because had I already used the 3 free emails, which is an ok price if you use the service often, but why would I pay $9 for 1 email every year when I can build myself an alternative. So I built EmailToFuture - free app to send emails to your future self. How it works: Simply write a message to your future self, select a delivery date (from tomorrow to decades ahead), and your message will be delivered…

Web app that lets you send email time capsulesDec 2025 · resurf.me · ▲44I had an issue where I would journal stuff, and then never look at what I wrote. So I thought it'll be cool to schedule something that will get sent to you at a later time (like a time capsule). Also, was inspired by futureme, where you can send yourself letters that'll arrive in the future.
PSFutureMailMar 2026 · psfuturemail.com · ▲8I wanted a way to write letters to my future self and actually forget about them until they arrive. Existing options didn't quite work for me. While Gmail lets you schedule emails, seeing those drafts every time was tempting, breaking the surprise. FutureMe has moved to a paid model, and most alternatives either lack encryption, feel limited, or don’t allow editing after scheduling. So I built PSFutureMail. It's a simple web app where you can write a letter and choose a delivery date anywhere from days to decades in the future. Letters are private and encrypted by default. You can edit or…

Hey HN! Pilots everywhere are required to keep a logbook of all their flying hours, aircraft, airports, and so on. Since I track everything digitally (some people still just use paper logbooks!), I put together some data visualizations and a few 3D globes to show my flying history. This globe is probably my favourite so far: https://jameshard.ing/pilot/globes/all If you’ve got ideas for other graphs or ways to show this kind of data, I’d love to hear them!

I was the main contributor to workout.lol, an open-source fitness app to easily build a workout routine. The project had traction (1.4k GitHub stars, 95 forks, ~20K visits/month), but was eventually sold due to video licensing hurdles. The new owner stopped maintaining it, and the repo went abandoned. Over the next 9 months, I sent 15 emails to try to save it : no replies. Feature requests & issues were ignored. The community was left with a "broken" tool let's say. I couldn't just let it die So I built the new version from scratch with the same open-source spirit, but a better…
