Encryption 1™
Your private zero-install, offline file & text encryptor
What it does
Encryption 1 is a lightweight, zero-install suite of local privacy utilities designed for professionals, travelers, and privacy advocates who need to protect sensitive data on the go. Built entirely on vanilla JavaScript and the browser's native WebCrypto API, the entire application runs locally within your browser. No accounts, no cookies, no third-party trackers, and absolutely zero server connections.
Encryption 1™ is a portable, browser-based encryption tool that runs locally on your device with no accounts, no tracking, and no server-side storage.
Encryption 1™ is a lightweight browser-based encryption tool that runs locally, saves nothing to a server, requires no account, and works across modern browsers on Windows, macOS, Linux, and iPhone. This is not a cloud service pretending to be private. It is a self-contained encryption tool designed around local processing, portability, and transparency. Text is encrypted and decrypted directly in the browser. The server does not process, store, or inspect user content. Encrypt on one machine, move the file by USB or email, then decrypt it elsewhere with the same password. A single HTML file can be carried offline and used without installing software or creating an account. Anyone can…from encryption-one.com

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
