EnergyAtIt
Build on the API layer between AI agents and the power grid
What it does
Data centers are the largest energy buyers on earth — but they can't talk to the grid. The protocols are from the 1990s - we translated all 8 into REST APIs and MCP tools. What you can do today: → Ask Claude to "dispatch a battery at 2MW" — it does it → Generate a cryptographic carbon attestation in one API call → Read real-time grid carbon intensity per facility → Auto-detect energy subsidies your building qualifies for 200+ REST endpoints. 15 MCP tools. Live sandbox — no signup needed.

- MCMeasure CO2 emissions of your APIs2022 · docs.stepci.com · ▲20
Have you ever wondered about the carbon footprint of your API? This week, the 27th climate summit takes place in Egypt. This inspired us to draw attention to the emissions produced by our online behaviour. We introduced some CO2-related features to our API testing tool: - Calculate carbon emissions of an API call - Set up a check to validate that your API endpoint doesn't cross the limit when it comes to emissions - Test all your API endpoints and get an approximate calculation of your API emissions in total We hope that by using these features, you will become more aware of the carbon…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.

Hey HN, Henry from Cactus here! We previously released Cactus Needle, a 14MB agentic LLM for tool call, device use, and structured extraction for phones, wearables, smart homes, small robots and microcontrollers. We got really great feedback here, and have now incorporated the suggestions to release Needle 2. The whole model is a single 14MB binary that runs a full session in 28MB of RAM; 45m parameters at 2bit compression. Needle hits 500 tokens/sec decode speed on a Raspberry Pi 5, sits between 400-1,500 tokens/sec on VR devices like Meta Quest 3S and Apple Vision Pro, and ranges…
