envfix
A tiny .env doctor for Node.js projects
What it does
envfix is a zero-dependency CLI for diagnosing and fixing environment configuration problems. It detects missing, empty, extra, and duplicate variables, catches malformed declarations, checks Git safety, generates and syncs example environment files, and works locally or in CI. Run it instantly with npx envfix.
Diagnose and fix your .env against .env.example — zero dependencies, CI friendly. - gokhanozgezer/envfix
A tiny environment configuration doctor for Node.js projects — zero dependencies, CI friendly. Every developer knows the pain: you pull the latest code, the app crashes, and twenty minutes later you discover someone added a new environment variable to .env.example that your local .env doesn't have. envfix finds those problems in one second — and fixes them. It also spots duplicate and malformed declarations, checks that your .env is safely gitignored, and can generate or synchronize your .env.example without ever leaking a secret. npx envfix 🩺 envfix — .env vs .env.example ✖ Missing in .env (2) STRIPE_SECRET_KEY REDIS_URL ○ Empty value (1) SMTP_PASSWORD ✖ 3 problem(s) found. Run npx envfix…from github.com

Hey HN, I'm so happy to finally show you all this release after years of hard work. I posted the first version of EnvKey to HN back in 2017 (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=15330757), then went through YC in W18 (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=16569534). EnvKey is an end-to-end encrypted configuration and secrets manager. It protects your organization's API keys, encryption keys, credentials, and other secrets, and makes it easy to run servers, scripts, tests, and everything else with the latest config. It also helps you avoid duplication in your…

Hi HN, this is Peleg from Configu. We have open-sourced Configu (https://github.com/configu/configu). It’s a simple yet powerful tool designed to manage application configurations (env vars, secrets, feature flags, and more) at scale across environments – from code to runtime – by providing configuration orchestration along with a Configuration-as-Code (CaC) approach. You can easily sync and connect it to any configuration store you use (files in git repo, secret managers, feature flags, databases, etc.) and Configu Orchestrator provides a unified interface that rules…

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
