File Content Conversion
Convert Anything, Upload Nothing
What it does
File conversion tools typically require an account, watermark the output, or cap free conversions. FileContentConversion runs 16 converters entirely in the browser. Files are processed locally and never uploaded to a server. No account, no limits, no queue. There is no infrastructure behind it, which is why there is no paywall. Limitation: very large files are constrained by available browser memory. Which converters would be most useful to add next?
Free online file converter that works in your browser. No uploads, no signup, and 100% private. Convert documents, spreadsheets, images, and text.
File content conversion means transforming a file's actual data into a new format - not just renaming it. Convert documents, spreadsheets, images, text and more directly in your browser. No signup, no uploads, 100% private. File Content Conversion transforms a file's contents from one format to another while preserving the underlying data - for example, turning a DOCX document into clean HTML, a CSV spreadsheet into JSON, or a PNG image into WebP. Unlike simply renaming a file extension, genuine file content conversion re-encodes the underlying bytes so the result opens correctly in its new format. File Content Conversion runs every conversion entirely client-side, in JavaScript, so nothing…from filecontentconversion.app

Hello HN! I found that picking out plausible but diverse skin tones for my digital art and game development projects was kind of difficult, and I got curious about if there was a way to define a color space that made it easy. I've built a color picker and procedural generation algorithm based on the space as well as a bunch of other fun js features and demos throughout the page that use the equations. If you find it interesting, I have lots of explanations of how I built it and what properties the space has. The methodology might be a bit shaky, but hopefully the result is as helpful for…

I trained a 125M-parameter transformer to autocomplete piano performances in real time (~108 notes/sec on an iPhone 15). The idea is basically GitHub Copilot or Tabnine, except instead of prompting it with code, you prompt it by playing a few notes on a MIDI piano. The model then continues what you played, entirely on-device. The app is free if anyone wants to try it. Happy to answer questions about the model, training, Core ML, or the many things that didn't work.
