FileFillet

Hi HN, I’d like to share FileFillet, a macOS app I created to help organize files more quickly. By setting up your favorite folders, you can quickly access them while dragging files (or folders) for copy/move operations, eliminating the need to navigate through multiple Finder windows just to move a file from A to B.

FileFillet launched on May 3, 2025 with 176 votes, #200 of 7,905 launches that month and more than 95% of that year's launches. The site was still online in September 2026, 1 year on.

What it does

FileFillet helps you to copy or move files to your favorite folders. Keep the overview by not having to open new Finder windows anymore.

Copy or move files to your favorite folders on macOS without opening new Finder windows. One-time purchase, 7-day free trial. Apple Silicon & Intel.

Copy or move files and folders to your favorite folders and their sub-folders. No need to open new Finder windows. Too many favorites? Just use the parent. Access all subdirectories. Panel slides in when you need it, stays out of the way otherwise. Coming next Native support for cloud storage providers (e.g. Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive) FileFillet is a macOS utility for organizing files quickly. It keeps your favorite folders one shortcut away, so you can copy or move files and folders — including into subdirectories — without opening new Finder windows. FileFillet costs €8.99 as a one-time purchase (plus VAT where applicable). There is no subscription, and updates within version 2.x…from filefillet.com

I am a developer. I have been building stuff for the last 13 years. One common challenge in all my projects is compressing assets to make them as small as possible. I used to end up using online compressors, but this has a lot of privacy concerns. So, I finally set down for couple of weeks and built this simple app. I can just drag and drop assets in it and it shrinks them. It currently supports around 25 file types. I built a lot of iOS apps but this is the first time building a macOS app, so any feedback is welcome.

We built Tapflow for devs, designers, PMs, and tech folks who’ve been sitting on internal docs, templates, and systems — but never productized them. Upload a PDF, notes, or workshop deck, and Tapflow drafts a structured product (with chapters, teaser and pricing plans). It’s good for AI kits, onboarding guides, design systems, and frameworks. You can sell through Stripe, LemonSqueezy, or PayPal. Real-time collaboration is in early beta. No site builder, no LMS — clean design and just focused tools to ship. Fully bootstrapped and just launched on PH today →…
