In plain words

Finding the Colours of the Web is a project that analyzes color patterns across websites by capturing screenshots and extracting color data. It uses crowdsourced information to answer questions about which colors are most common on the web, whether certain industries favor specific color palettes, and which colors typically appear together in designs. Rather than looking only at CSS colors, the tool examines actual website images to understand the full visual impression of web design. It is designed for designers and researchers curious about web design trends.

From the sources

This project aims to uncover some insights about colours on the web, in particular, some questions I've struggled with as a designer. With a crowd-sourced data-set, the ultimate goal is to answer questions like: What is the most common colour/s or hue/s on the web? Do certain industries prefer certain colours over others? What colours are generally found together? Unfortunately, the colour that makes up a web design is not just the background and text colour found in the CSS. The overall impression of the website includes the images, so this app takes screenshots and analyses colour values of each pixel. This is not a 100% foolproof method, but screenshots are kept so they can be reanalysed…from webcolourdata.com

I crawled lots of websites and extracted their color palettes (primary, secondary, etc) to build a searchable collection of website colors! It was a fun side-project and I learned a lot about color theory. Let me know what you think and what features you would like to see :) If you have any questions about the tech behind it, feel free to ask in the comments. Feedback is also greatly appreciated.
