What it does

Flowtime is a local-first focus timer and time tracker built around simplicity. Use a standard timer, Pomodoro sessions, or Flow Sessions to stay focused and track your time. No account required. Privacy-friendly. Designed for people who want to focus on their work instead of configuring another productivity tool. Public release planned for July.

Flowtime is a flexible, friction-free focus timer and time tracker with Pomodoro, reminders, projects, and optional app blocking on iPhone and Android.

Start when you need to focus. Get reminders when you've disappeared too deep. Block the apps that hijack your attention. A flexible focus timer, hyperfocus timer, time tracker, and Pomodoro alternative for work, study, and intentional breaks. Flowtime combines flexible focus sessions, Pomodoro, reminders, time tracking, and optional app blocking. It helps you notice where your time goes, stay aware during deep focus, and stop intentionally—without requiring an account. Flowtime supports four distinct focus tracking modes tailored for work, study, time awareness, hyperfocus check-ins, and intentional breaks. Focus until you stop, then take a break based on session length. Set a target, get…from flowtime-app.com

Hi HN, I built FlowTime. I love Pomodoro but often hit peak focus around minute 25; the fixed break emptied my working memory and I lost the thread. FlowTime lets you work as long as you’re in flow, then take a break equal to 20% of the focus time. One-tap Work → Next Break, task-linked tracking, and a day/week/month/year stats dashboard. Tech: Next.js + TypeScript; data is local-only (no signup). Known limits: single-device data; sync may come later. Would love feedback on: edge cases, UX flow, and what would make this truly useful for creative/deep work.

  • Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 6.0.0. The most significant changes since 5.1.0 are a new tap trust security mechanism, the new faster, smaller, default internal Homebrew JSON API, sandboxing on Linux, better defaults informed by our user survey, many brew bundle improvements, improved performance and initial support for macOS 27 (Golden Gate). Happy to discuss any questions here!

  • Hi HN! I was super frustrated at apps like tiktok and wechat preventing me from saving or downloading the animated gifs, so I made a little tool to turn a screen recording into a slack-sized emoji. Hope you get some value from this!
